About Syntonia
Syntonia is a community of mental health professionals where different schools of psychotherapy speak with one another rather than past one another. It is a programme of NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION «GRADIENT CENTER» (Ukraine).
Mission
To advance and popularise a culture of mental health in Ukraine: to build an evidence-based, affirmative and non-stigmatising community of professionals in psychotherapy and adjacent fields, and to raise public awareness of mental health, neurodivergence and psychological wellbeing.
We want cross-modal dialogue to become the professional norm rather than a rare conference format.Syntonia
Vision
A Ukraine where seeking help is as ordinary as going to the dentist. Where a practitioner need not choose between their school and the evidence, and a person need not decode professional jargon to understand their own condition. We want cross-modal dialogue to become the professional norm rather than a rare conference format.
What sets us apart
No modality above the rest
Syntonia belongs to no single school of psychotherapy. We are a space of horizontal exchange between evidence-based approaches, where practitioners of different modalities collaborate as equals.
Evidence without dryness
Claims about effectiveness are backed by research. Where the evidence is thin, we say so plainly instead of avoiding the subject.
Language people understand
Complex things about the mind, explained so that a person without specialist training can follow — without stigmatising words and without simplifying away the meaning.
Directions
Talks
Exchange between professionals: lectures, open meetings, discussions and cross-modal events. See Events.
School
Educational programmes, courses, workshops, supervision and intervision groups for psychologists, psychotherapists and adjacent professionals — HR specialists, teachers, coaches and social workers.
Center
Consultative support for individuals, families and organisations in a warm, non-clinical setting. This direction is in preparation.
Legal status
Syntonia is a programme of NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION «GRADIENT CENTER» (short name NGO «GRADIENT»), registration code EDRPOU 46389902. The Organisation is a non-entrepreneurial society: generating profit is not its principal aim, and income is not distributed among its members.
The programme implements the following statutory directions of the Organisation:
- solutions in healthcare and mental health (Statute, clause 3.2.4);
- non-formal education — courses, trainings, workshops and internships with certificates that are not state-issued documents and require no licensing (clause 3.2.7);
- informational, analytical and publishing activity (clause 3.2.11);
- social, educational, cultural and humanitarian programmes aimed at the wellbeing, health and development of people and communities (clause 3.2.14).
The Organisation operates on the principles of voluntary membership, self-governance, equality before the law, transparency and openness. It is non-political and non-partisan, and acts on the basis of equal opportunity and non-discrimination.
Registration data, full texts of internal policies and our results framework are published on the Transparency page.
What we do not do
When the directory of professionals launches, the Organisation will act as an informational and organisational intermediary: it will not be a party to contracts between a practitioner and a client, and will not receive payment for services practitioners provide in their own professional practice.
Activities requiring licences or other permits — in particular in education and healthcare — are carried out only after the relevant documents have been obtained.
Partners and donors
The Organisation may receive membership fees, non-repayable financial aid, donations and grants, and decides on their use in accordance with its Statute and Ukrainian law. Partnership and funding enquiries — media@wearesyntonia.com. See also how to support us.
