Journal

The Syntonia Journal

Articles on mental health, approaches to psychotherapy and neurodivergence — evidence-based, warm and in plain language.

The first pieces are in preparation. When they are published they will appear here; announcements go out in our public-education newsletter.

What we write about

The journal is the public-education arm of Syntonia. It is written for two readers at once: the practitioner who needs a clear account of a study, and the person without specialist training who needs to understand what is happening to them. We neither simplify to the point of losing meaning nor complicate things to look serious.

Approaches without hierarchy

Analyses of CBT, psychodynamic work, humanistic therapy, schema therapy, ACT, DBT and others — what each explains well and where its limits lie. No lists of «best» methods: different tasks need different tools.

Neurodivergence

Autism, ADHD, dyslexia — as conditions, not sentences. What current science says, what support looks like as opposed to «fixing», and why late diagnosis in adults is a subject of its own.

Professional practice

Supervision, burnout, boundaries, ethical difficulty, working with the trauma of war. The things practitioners discuss among themselves but rarely write about publicly.

How we handle evidence

The source is always visible

Every claim about a method's effectiveness comes with a reference to a study or meta-analysis. Where the evidence is thin, we say so directly.

Data and opinion kept apart

An author's position is labelled as a position. We do not pass clinical experience off as research, nor research off as universal truth.

Language without stigma

Person first, condition second. LGBTQ+ identities and neurodivergence are not described as disorders — that is an affirmative stance, and it is not up for debate.

What the journal is not

It is not a substitute for therapy and not a self-diagnosis tool. Articles do not establish diagnoses or prescribe treatment. If you need help now, our crisis help page lists free, round-the-clock lines.
